Due to an unfortunate event
involving a tiny foreign object and my contact lens,
I am having to postpone Crossfit: Month 2 Day 1 (2.1?)
until I can see out of both eyeballs.
Probably Wednesday, according to my work schedule.
So instead, I'll do the logical thing and just talk about it.
When people ask me how it's going.. I still don't know how to answer.
I don't love it.
I don't hate it.
I'm not good at it.
I don't completely suck.
I show up. Do what they tell me. Try not to die.
I don't know the acronyms.
I don't speak the language.
I'm winded just from warming up.
I'm the only girl with a serious double-bra dilemma.
or any kind of wardrobe malfunctions in general.
I am easily the biggest girl in that box,
which isn't really an issue until burpee time.
In fewer words:
Month 1 was not fun.
From what I hear, that's not uncommon.
"Everyone was a beginner at some point."
"In another month you'll look back and laugh at your WOD times."
"The struggle doesn't go away for anyone."
and to top it all off, you don't start losing weight until at least 6 weeks in.
Six. Weeks.
So.
I could've ran the other way into something more comfortable,
inconsistent, ineffective,
but doable.
Where I don't have to be the awkward new kid
or scale my workout to the point it's unrecognizable.
Or:
go against all instincts and
sign up for Month 2.
(and according to the bathroom-selfie shoot I did last night in my underwear)
I'm an official member of Crossfit Mayday.

I can survive my 20s,
I can survive
anything.
- I never EVER know what to wear to Crossfit
- and then I realize i'm still one of those girls that cares about what their sweat looks like
- oh yeah, it's sweat. meant to be gross.
- no one even understands what it's like to do high-knees with big boobs.
- also, FU BURPEES
- Just looked through the wedding album twice. because maybe the first time i missed that one flattering picture of me i can make a profile pic.
- nope. doesn't exist. not a one.
- i miss Luch. like so much. wow.
- i'm gonna be 25 in 3 months. can you say party time?
- this is where i make a new resolution to be at my best health by 25.
- how did we circle back to Crossfit already?
- praying for snow in Chattanooga is like hoping you catch your roommate's flu.
- i think it's weird when girls call their dad their valentine but mine got me legit flowers. so.
- basically F U VALENTINES DAY.
- (i really should've just gotten to the point much more....quickly)
Today I am
sore.
the perfect combination of proud
and discouraged.
both excited and dreading
my next round in the box.
ready to get to the part where
I see progress.
Today I am
driving "home"
where I drove away from
exactly 2 years ago
and only looked back a couple times.
Today I am
seeing my sister
and my favorite brother in law
and my favorite dogs,
all of which feel like a missing limb
I get to have back for the weekend.
Today I am
questioning
all the junk my feelings have led me to
hoard.
questioning what to keep
and what to purge,
and how i'll ever know the difference.
